The Earl of Lonsdale's unique personal road map in leather case . Circa 1910-1920. Oak box within gold 'tooled' leather travelling case with four England road maps. Made by Websters of Dover Street London (stamped on box)  and By Appointment to the Queen, it likely dates back to the late Victorian or early Edwardian era and made for use in his custom built yellow Rolls Royce.

This mark is associated with a distinguished company known for high-quality craftsmanship in a range of goods, including maps, silverwork, fine jewellery, and luxury items.Webster of Dover Street: this firm was located on Dover Street in London, an area known for its fine shops and artisans. They were recognized for producing detailed and sometimes customized pieces for prominent clients, including the royal family.Queen Alexandra (Queen Consort to King Edward VII, 1901–1910) also issued appointments, and her royal preference would date an item to the Edwardian era.Lord Lonsdale’s Rolls Royce (illustrated) dates from 1923. Items and Craftsmanship: Webster of Dover Street is especially known for creating maps, atlases, and navigational aids as well as luxury items.
